Bridie O'Dwyer

August 5, 1932 — July 22, 2022

With great gratitude for the loving times we shared, the O’Dwyer family announces the passing of Bridget (Bridie) O’Dwyer on July 22, 2022 at the Houses of Providence in Scarborough. Bridie passed peacefully with no suffering for which we are grateful, after seeing her deal with the challenges of Alzheimer's over the last several years. Bridie was predeceased by her loving husband Eamon and oldest son Mike. She will be greatly missed by sons Gerry (Sue) and John, daughter-in-law Sharon, granddaughters Casey (Troy) and Shannon (Eric), grandsons Aaron (Sara) and Shawn (Annalisa) and great-granddaughter Autumn. Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the loving and caring staff at the Houses of Providence who looked after Bridie for the last 3 years and also to Dorrett James who was a loyal friend and caregiver. Bridie and Eamon emigrated from Ireland in 1966 and embraced Canada and all things Canadian. They enjoyed road trips and camping with their young boys and as the boys got older Bridie enjoyed her job at Eaton’s where she made some life-long friends. Her family lovingly remembers Sunday dinners of roast beef in the winter and KFC in the summer. Later, Bridie came to love vacations to Florida and never turned down a trip to the casino. You could always count on a dozen Country Style doughnuts when Bridie and Eamon came to join the family Saturday mornings at the cottage throughout the summer. Her laugh was contagious and lives on in our memories. A small family service will be held later in the month. “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die”- Thomas Campbell.
