Diny (Smits) Vandenakker

Diny Vandenakker (nee Smits) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30th at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, in her 88th year. She was the beloved wife of her long-time husband Henk Vandenakker, who passed away in late March of this year. Loving mother of Fr. John, Fr. Roger, and Cindy Folz (Patrick). Cherished Oma of Daniel, Nicolas, and Bianca. Predeceased by her brothers Jo Smits, Broer Smits, Gerard Smits, Tony Smits (Agnita), Harry Smits (Genia) and her sisters Toos Vandenburg, Greta Wygergangs, Jet Vandenburg, Mia Beentjes, and Paula de Kemp. Will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law and her many friends, nieces, and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care of Diny these past eight weeks. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, Fallowfield on Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Interment of her ashes, along with those of her husband Henk, will follow immediately afterwards in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Companions of the Cross (companionscross.ca). Please continue to pray for the repose of Diny’s soul.
