Metcalfe

Donald (Don) Clark, of Metcalfe, Ontario passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Barbara (Barb) by his side on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in his 73rd year.

Don was born in Edmonton and raised in the Stoney Plain area before moving with his family to Fawcett, Alberta at the age of 13. For years Don worked seismic across the Northwest Territories, Alberta and British Columbia, returning home each spring to farm with his father Bill Clark. In 1976 he married the love of his life Barb and they purchased their home place in Fawcett. Together, this home is where they built a farming business and raised their family. He was an active member of the community, including serving as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years.

In 2007 Don and Barb retired to the Ottawa area where he was able to enjoy long days in his garden and pursue his many interests. In Ottawa Don was a member of the Lower Ottawa Valley Woodlot Association. He was often found working in his shop, sawing lumber, tending to his grape vines or making maple syrup. Most valued was the time he spent with family and a network of cherished friends.

Don was a devoted husband of 46 years to Barb and loving father to Stephen (Rhonda), Kirk (Diana) and proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren, Austin (Ivette), Riley, Jenna, Matthew, Nicole, Emily and great granddaughter Avery. He is survived by brother, Douglas (Claire) Clark, sisters Jean Bain and Heather Bull, parents-in-law Helen & Edwin Kallal, brothers-in-law Shawn (Susan) Kallal, Terry (Linda) Kallal, Jeffrey (Sai) Kallal, Allan (Sandra) Kallal and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Bill & Grace Clark, brother Gordon Clark and brothers-in-law Jim Bain and Mike Bull.

Don loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, his pride and joy. He enjoyed all things in nature and was happiest when in his garden with family by his side. He will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family and the countless hours enjoyed with him, walking, sipping scotch or listening to his story telling. He will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family.

A celebration of life will be held in the Ottawa area later this year, date and location to be confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Care Ottawa/May Court Hospice.
