Dorothy (Dot) Ruth Wharram (née Greig)

July 21, 1928 - November 12, 2021.

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Camilla Care Community on Friday November 12, 2021 at the age of 93. Beloved wife for 59 years of the late Frank Wharram; loving mother to Paul (Lois), Gary (Irene), and Marilyn (Graham Elliott); proud grandmother to Derek and Leanna Wharram, Geoffrey and Caitlin Elliott, and Alexander and Andrew Wharram; and great grandmother to Dayton Wharram.

Dorothy was born in Campbellford, Ontario, the eldest daughter of Earl and Ruth Grieg. Her family moved to Toronto during her teenage years, attending high school at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute. After graduation, Dorothy started her career in customer relations at Bell Canada. Dot and Frank met on a blind date on Valentine's Day and married in 1953 at Kingsway Lambton United Church in a double ceremony with her late sister Barb (Harold Wilder). Following their birth, Dot became a stay-at-home mom for her children. She was an avid community volunteer, active in the Women's Auxiliary at Humbervale United Church, and as a Girl Guide leader. She was a seamstress and knitter, making lots of sweaters and also afghans for all of her grandchildren. Dot and Frank adored the cottage that they built in Muskoka and enjoyed every summer there throughout their retirement years. While she did own a computer, Dot liked to talk on the phone to keep in close contact with her friends and family.

Dot will be cremated and her ashes will be buried beside Frank's at Park Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on a date to be confirmed.

In thoughtful commemoration, please make a small donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada, or the charity of your choice.
