Esther Hendry Lambert (Melville)

July 3, 1929 — August 2, 2021

Esther was predeceased by her husband John Ernest (Jack) in 1993, her grandson Brian Mair in 2016, her brother Alexander (Scotty) in 2007 and her parents Robert Rose Melville and Annie Christie Melville.  Loving mother of Lynda Lambert McLean (Birmingham, AL), Wendy Lambert (Calgary, AB), John Lambert (Haines Junction, Yukon), Jim Lambert (London, On), Peter Lambert (Victoria BC), Beth Lambert (Acton, On) and Leah Lambert Beaulieu (London, On). Esther is survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Born in Mimico, Ontario Esther attended Mimico High School.  She married Jack in 1947 eventually living in Belleville and later Brampton.  Esther worked for many years at Peel Memorial Hospital on the Obstetrical unit and the O.R. as the Unit Clerk.  Following her husband’s death, she moved to Durham and later London.  Esther had a life-long love of rose gardening and Siamese cats.  She was a skilled and prolific knitter.

Esther lived for 11 years at Mount Hope in London where she was lovingly and skillfully cared for. Her infectious smile drew people to her. She loved ice-cream socials, music, walking and dancing and making the residents laugh.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family extends a grateful thank you to the staff of Mount Hope for their loving care of our mother.  Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Society of London or The Humane Society of London in remembrance of Esther Lambert.
