Fiorina Rosalba Marrone

August 11, 1958 ~ December 26, 2022 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Obituary

Fiorina Rosalba (Rosie) Marrone (nee Filippelli) was born in Toronto, Ontario to Maria and Giovanni Filippelli on August 11, 1958. Rosie was the oldest of a large group of cousins and took great pride in being the family matriarch, always giving her time and energy to those in need, no questions asked. Rosie married her best friend Louie in September of 1984, and shared 38 wonderful, loving years by his side. Her two daughters Amanda (Kyle) and Stephanie (Matthew) were her greatest joys, along with her four grandchildren Luke, Adeline, Liam and Mikaela, and grand-dogs Tai and Max. She was also a proud older sister to Frankie Filippelli, and sister-in-law to Laura and Charlie Gallo. Her nieces and nephews, Erica (Eric), Christian, Johnny and Alyssa-Marie also brought immense joy to her life.

Rosie had a fulfilling and successful career in banking, starting as a teller at the age of 16. Over her 42 years in the industry, she won the respect and love of all her colleagues and clients, along with several awards and trips for her dedication and hard work. Never boastful, Rosie never searched for accolades, but deserved them all.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, Rosie fought a valiant battle and was in remission for almost 2 years. In July 2022, the cancer returned. In her family’s eyes, Rosie beat cancer. She fought hard every day for another chance to spend it with loved ones by her side. She fought until the very last second, so that she could enjoy Christmas Day with her husband, children and grandchildren. Finally, late Christmas night, after all the dishes had been cleaned and put away, and with her loved ones by her side, she was ready to say goodbye. She has left a giant void in the many hearts she touched throughout her life, but will always be remembered for how much love she put out into the world, and how much she gave to others without wanting anything in return. Details of a celebration of her life to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
