Gary Regan

December 25, 1952 — November 14, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of charismatic partner, father, brother, and friend, Gary Regan. Gary passed on Sunday, November 14th, 2021. He fought valiantly against cancer for almost a decade. He is survived by his partner Francine, daughter Michelle (Victor), sons Steven (Cynthia) and Rob (Christina), sister Mary (Randy), brothers Jim (Sally), Brian (Lianne), Dan (Joan), many loving nieces and nephews, and cherished friend Hélène Charette. Gary inspired the people around him to not take things too seriously (save for hockey, baseball, and football pools). He did this by air guitaring in public, telling jokes to strangers, and always lending an ear. He was a curious man and a voracious reader, sometimes consuming more than one book a week. He will be remembered fondly by all those who knew him for his kindness, wit, sense of humor, idiosyncratic terms of endearment, and rock-star potential.

A devotedly faithful man, Gary went to be with his Lord. He joins his Mom and Dad, Gordon and Shirley, his brother Gordie (Laura), and favorite pet, Musser. His heaven is a room lined with bookshelves and rock albums, an endless supply of beer-battered fish & chips, and bottomless margaritas. As per Gary’s request, a private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.

Gary was an animal lover. In memoriam donations may be made to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. Visit https://ontariospca.ca/how-to-help/. Alternatively, donations can also be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Visit https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation.

Be not afraid
I go before you always
Come, follow me and I will give you rest

And blessed are your poor
For the kingdom shall be theirs
Blest are you that weep and mourn
For one day you shall laugh
And if wicked men insult and hate you
All because of me
Blessed, blessed are you

Be not afraid
I go before you always
Come, follow me and I will give you rest
