Gelu Lucian Carapet

Gelu Lucian Carapet, 65, passed away from a short illness on August 22, 2023, at Milton Hospital.

He was born May 29, 1958 in Medgidia, Romania, the son of Ion Carapet and Olimpia Rizea.

Gelu graduated from Nicolae Balcescu Collegiate, class of 1977. Following graduation he pursued a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Bucharest.

In Canada he achieved a Professional Engineering license in 2005. Throughout his years in school he consistently excelled academically. He was also known for his great intelligence, and sense of humour.

Gelu worked as an engineer for Daewoo Mangalia, O’Hara Tech, Aeris Aluminum, Hamilton Kent, Oak Leaf Confections, and Agropur Division Natrel.

His previous employers have described Gelu as being dependable, conscientious, and technically skilled. He consistently held positions of great responsibility and prestige. 

Gelu is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Diana and Roxana, as well as his former spouse Tatiana, his in-laws Sofia and Marin Ionita, his sister-in-law Gabriela, his nephew Razvan, and his brother-in-law Ion.

A service of remembrance will be held between 3 - 5 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium.
