George Henry Doucette

April 17, 1932 — September 27, 2021

Doucette, George Henry

On Monday September 27th 2021 my dear Dad quietly slipped away.

He was born April 17th 1932 in Hubbards Point Nova Scotia to Henry and Delphine (Deveau)

He was part of a family of 13 children, 10 from his mother and 3 from his father's 2nd marriage.

He was predeceased by brothers Bernard, Thomas,  Adolphus (Dolph), Leon and Ernest and by sisters Gert and Cecile.

He is survived by sisters Annette, Isabelle and Audrey and by brothers Ronnie and Victor.

He left Nova Scotia in the 1950's where he met and married Shelby (Shannon), my mom.

I (Randy) was born in 1960 and my brother Steve was born in 1963 and our family settled in Georgetown, Ontario.

Dad had many jobs throughout his life but he found his calling as a supervisor for Carling O'Keefe Breweries in Toronto from which he retired in 1989 at age 57.

He moved back to his native Nova Scotia for 25 years until his first Great Grandchild came along in 2012.

He spent his last 9 years back in Ontario first with me, then in his own apartment and finally at Amica, Georgetown and Extendicare Halton Hills where he passed.

He is also survived by and will be deeply missed by his Granddaughter Megan (Mike), Grandson Henry, Great Granddaughter Mikaylah and Great Grandson Aleksander.

I don't have enough words to express my gratitude to the staff at both Amica and Extendicare who treated Dad like family and made his last years happy ones.

Dad also became family to my wife June (Hatcher) and her Mother Katherine and June's Sisters Bonnie and Tracy and their families.

Dad was a damn good center fielder, a great kids hockey coach, a pretty good campfire guitar player and most importantly was my Father.

Dad was a humble guy who didn't like a fuss so he will be cremated and there will be no service but we plan on taking his ashes back to his birthplace next summer and spreading them in a place he was proud to call home.

Rest in peace Dad.
