George Norman

January 15, 1931 ~ April 7, 2021 (age 90)

NORMAN, George William – Passed peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at age 90. Dearly beloved husband of the late Anne Norman (nee Miklos) for 38 years and loving father to the late Bradley Norman, Valerie Crozier and William Norman. Grandpa to Aaron Crozier and loving partner to Elizabeth Hogan.

Born January 15, 1931 in Toronto to the late George and Eva. Siblings Kay Cooper, the late Betty Bolingbroke, Helen Koks and the late Ronny Norman. Fond memories include Lampton Park school, The Golden Grill, The Junction, Varsity Restaurant, Hunt’s Bakery, the first apartment at Madison Avenue and Bloor, Polish picnics, dances at the Legion, the Malton group, dinner parties, frequent trips to Chatham and family trips. Later in life he enjoyed going to Heads N’ Tails, the Moose Lodge, The Palomino, the seniors coffee club at McDonald’s and playing the slots at Woodbine Casino. He loved country music, dancing, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Jeopardy and reading the Toronto Star quiz after Sunday dinners.

In 1960 George went into business with his brother-in-law Gord. For over 30 years they managed several successful full service stations for Supertest Petroleum, BP and Petro Canada. They started at Avenue Road and Yorkville during the hippie era, then expanded to Avenue Road and Chaplin and retired from Hollywood and Willowdale in North York.

George will be fondly remembered by his family as a generous, loving father, a successful businessman and someone who enjoyed a good time. A great guy who liked to make people laugh and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be scheduled sometime in the future for close friends and family.

Donations can me made in his memory to the Canadian Lung Association.
