Georgina (Gene) Mary (Payne) Maher

Joe and family, with great sadness announce the passing of Georgina Mary Maher age 76 on Thursday June 16, 2022.  Known to most as Gene Maher, Gene passed away peacefully at home. Born to Alfred and Mary Payne in Liverpool England, Gene had one brother, Kenneth, who have all predeceased Gene and are now reunited within the Holy Father along with her one granddaughter Taylor Graham.

Gene had a love for life and believed in living life to the fullest, she was a strong Christian, mentor and role model who inspired many.  Gene was a devoted wife survived by her beloved husband Joseph Maher, a loving and supportive mother for her daughter Nicola and her son Gary, and an adoring grandmother, Nan, to her two grandsons Brandon and Joshua.  Gene will be greatly and deeply missed by all but carried and felt in our hearts forever, as the heart will always go on.

A life filled with love, joy, happiness and compassion deserves to be honoured and remembered.  A service to celebrate Gene's life is to be held on Friday June 24, 2022 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 295 Queen St. Streetsville, Ontario at 12:00pm. Family is available for visitation from 11:30am - 12:00pm before the service. Family flowers only please, those who wish to do something in memory to honour Gene, we suggest a small donation to St. Andrew's Presbyterian, the church she loved, or to the cancer society.
