Georgios Roubos

February 28, 1929 — April 5, 2021

On Monday April 5th 2021, George Roubos passed away peacefully while in care at North York General Hospital. He leaves behind Sofia, his loving wife of 71 years; four children: Asklipiada (Gus) Efstathiou, Chrisoula (Dimitri) Sarris, Peter (Sandra) Roubos and Anastasia (Boris) Slinko; 10 grandchildren: Spiro, Dimitra, Eleni, (late) Sophia, Kristina, Nick, George, George, Sophia, Elias, and 14 great-grandchildren.

George was born in Kardaras, Matinias, Arkadias—near Tripoli, Greece—then, moved to Rousvanaika. There, he met his beautiful wife, Sofia, who lived across from him in the village. George and Sofia married in 1950.
George immigrated to Canada on May 6th, 1967. He wanted his four children to go to school, and have a better life. He immediately prioritized finding a job so he could earn money to support his family. Soon after, he became business partners with two relatives and opened a restaurant. Through hard work, and his strong commitment, he enjoyed a great life with his lovely wife Sofia. George and Sofia loved vacationing in Greece every summer and going to the festivals. George was always dancing at every event.

George was a supportive husband, and proud dad. He became a grandfather at a young age, and he was very blessed to see 14 great-grandchildren.
