Joe Revells

It is with great sadness that the family of Salvator Joseph (Joe) Revells announces his passing. Born on March 20, 1955 in Toronto, Joe passed away at Saint Vincent Hospital in Ottawa on Thursday, June 15, 2023 after a short battle with lung disease and lung cancer.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Michael Angelo Revells and Francis (Frankie) (nee Luckman) Revells. He leaves behind his son, Michael (Cherie), grandchildren Cameron, Dylan, Connor and Lucy. Joe is survived by his siblings, Mike (Sheila), Elizabeth, Norman (Rose), Ann-Louise and his many nieces and nephews. Joe’s sense of humour and quick wit will be greatly missed by his family and cherished friends Jim Francis, John Chang and Jim Mallen.

Joe cherished the time spent with his son and son’s family. His grandchildren were his delight, and he thought the world of his daughter-in-law, Cherie. Joe was proud of his son’s accomplishments, and even more proud of the family his son and daughter-in-law are raising.

Joe graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was Don of his floor in the university residence. A lover of the written word, Joe amassed a formidable collection of works for his library which included titles from the Arts, Psychology, Philosophy, fiction and non-fiction and everything in between, any of which he was more than happy to discuss or debate in-depth.

Joe took great delight in journaling and writing stories and poetry. He affectionately referred to himself as a “scribbler” because he spent many hours perfecting his written work, editing and revising it until it expressed his thoughts just right.

Joe also had an affinity to all styles of music, but especially jazz. He had a deep respect for the hours of practice accomplished musicians spend to perfect their skill making their talent appear effortless.

Joe’s love for both the English language and the Japanese culture influenced his direction and saw him teaching English As A Second Language (ESL) in private schools both in Japan and in Toronto.

A caring and thoughtful soul, Joe willingly shared whatever he had. He gladly spent his time caring for his girlfriend, Barbara, during her illness until her recent death.

A funeral service will be held on July 28th 2023, 11am, at Pinecrest Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
