Linda Leona Alston

July 30, 1940 — October 1, 2021

Toronto

Linda passed away on October 1st, after a brief battle with cancer,  knowing the love of her family was with her.
Linda was a loving wife of 59 years to William(Bill), mother to Richard(Gina), Tony(Sandra), and Laura(Dave).
Linda was an adored grandmother to "her boys", Corey(1985-2011), Aric, Aaron, Jonathan(Aimee), Tyler and Alex.
Linda was excited that after never getting to buy pink, she was able to welcome some girls into the family,  with the addition of five great-granddaughters and most recently a great-grandson!
Linda was born in Cochrane, Ontario and is survived by her brother Pat and sister Dianne.
After graduating from Shaw's, Linda started married life with Bill, living at her in-laws with their nephew Eddie.  Linda and Bill welcomed Richard and shortly thereafter Tony.  Linda and Bill eventually moved from the beaches to Scarborough, completing their family with the addition of Laura.
Linda stayed at home when her children were young and became an advocate on the home and school board successfully raising funds for Norman Cook to obtain needed sports equipment and install a playground.
In her spare time,  Linda enjoyed nothing more than a good book and as an avid reader, Linda promoted the need for and facilitated ESL classes for the mothers at the local school and in the neighbourhood.
Once her children were off to school,  Linda started her career at a little card shop down town, eventually managing multiple stores.  As time passed, Linda wanted to stop the commute and became manager at the Scarborough Town Centre where she was a mentor, confidante and friend to many staff over her 25 year career.
Since retiring, Linda settled into a daily routine with Bill that ment going out to enjoy a coffee and read her books, while taking in nature and often watching Bill catch a big one!
Linda looked forward to taking little trips to North Bay to visit her sister Dianne and brother-in-law Ken, Cheryl, and their extended families.
Linda loved her Tuesday outings with her sister-in-law Marjorie and her Friday lunch dates with her brother Pat and sister-in-law Frances.
Linda was always thinking about "her boys" and "the little girls", ensuring she never forgot a Christmas or birthday and always taking delight in seeing their smiles when they would receive something from grandma and grandpa.
Linda was a selfless, non-judgemental person and put all others before herself. Linda liked nothing more than getting updates on her family and friends, always sharing in their success.
Linda was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Linda will be missed by everyone that knew her.
We know she will be up there watching over us.
We love you always.
