Marilyn Fraser

September 9, 1931 — April 17, 2021

Marilyn Louise (Mills) Fraser, (Sept 9th, 1931) passed away at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton on April 17th after a brief illness. Marilyn is survived by her four daughters, Constance (Dave) Doan, Jennifer (Stephen) Temple, Melinda Schimdt, and Vicky (James) Baker, and 2 sons Michael Fraser and Christopher Fraser (Pina), and her 11 grandchildren (Estevan Dugalin, Sandor Dugalin, Michael Fraser, Jason Fraser, Kimberley Fraser, Ron Schmidt, Rachelle Schmidt, David Simms, Andrew Simms, Jessica Simms, and Simon Fraser). Her sons Richard and James pre-deceased her, as did her sisters Constance, Judith, Laura and her brother Peter.

Marilyn also known as Mary Lou to many of her friends, was well loved and respected for her resilience and ability to reinvent her life many times over. She had a passion for transformative things; butterflies and chameleons. Like a Phoenix she had a way of rising from the ashes, and we know her spirit too will rise, through her beloved grandchildren.

A life long lover of travel, she was always up for an adventure. Back-packing through Europe at 67, and signing up for an arctic scientific cruise at 73. She returned to university in her 60s to study the geology she loved and parlayed that and her writing and print manager experience into developing and publishing the Canadian rock hound and mineral enthusiast magazine Cab & Crystal.

A celebration of her life will take place on September 9th 2021 at Port Credit Memorial Park. Details to follow on Marilyn’s website: http://www.silverchameleon.com
