Mary (Liz) Gaffield

Liz Gaffield 78, of Mississauga, Ontario passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospital, Mississauga, on Friday January 14, 2022.

Born in Lewisville, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Mervyn (July 1995) and Dorothy(December 2005) (Booth) Maxwell.

Predeceased by her father and mother in-law Norman and Jane Rogers.

Liz will be sadly missed by her daughter Krista-Lee Walters (Gregory), son Joseph Gaffield, granddaughter Zara Armstrong and great grandson John Maximus Amstrong, and her partner Ross Stubbings.  She is mourned by her brother Mervyn (Mickey) Maxwell (Mary), sister-in-law Rose Maxwell, brother-in-law Allan Borden, Sisters-in-laws Margaret Weeks (Reginald), Pamela Van Velzen, brother-in-law Norman Rogers, and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Joseph Gaffield (November 2008), son Darren Gaffield (July 2011), brother Thomas Maxwell (August 2007) and sister Irene Borden (July 2017), brother-in-law Ted Van Velzen.

Liz was fortunate to live a good life and remained close with all of her family near and far.  She will be sadly missed by her dear friends at the Royal Canadian Legion, Wilson Branch 527, where she had been a Legion Member and Women’s Auxiliary Member (prior to charter closing) and an amazing caterer.  As well as many other dear friends she was privileged to have in her life.

She loved to go out with the “girls”, dance, play shuffle board and just have fun.  She dearly missed these Friday / Saturday night get togethers after covid-19 hit and limited the ability to all get together.

Now at peace, amongst the angels looking over us all.

Liz asked to be cremated and a Celebration of her Life will be held later in the spring when it is safer to bring together her family and friends.  In her memory, donations can be sent to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
