Michele Jacqueline Mathurin

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Ottawa

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Michele Mathurin, after a brief, courageous struggle with cancer. She was the daughter, of the late Joan Mathurin, and Emerson Mathurin, and the cherished sister of Adrienne Cooper. She was the precious Auntie of Tristan Cooper, and the much loved niece of Patsy and Marjorie Mathurin. She leaves behind many loving cousins and wonderfully devoted friends.

Michele was  such a bright light, touching the lives of people everywhere she went, and the world is a darker place without her in it. She spent her entire life speaking out for those who don't have a voice, for marginalized groups, and for the underprivileged.  LGBTQ+, Women's Rights, and “Black Lives Matter” were among the many causes she championed. She spent countless hours at protests and events in support of others, and did so with passion, courage, and love in her heart. She will be so profoundly missed by all the members of her family, her incredibly supportive friends, her coworkers, and by all of the many other lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Michele be made to the charity of your choice in support of her dearest causes. We honor her legacy of strength, resilience, and kindness. May she rest in peace, and may her memory forever be a source of comfort, laughter, and love to all who were privileged to know her.
