Robert Gilles Sheehan-Gauthier

June 14, 1937 — July 8, 2021

Passed away in hospital on July 8th, surrounded by loved ones.
Loving father of Suzanne (predeceased), Jacki (Michael), Bob (Jo), and Bailey.

Granddad Bob of Aiden and Callum.

Husband of Shirley (predeceased), a dear friend of Charmaine, Maureen, and Steve.

Salesman, journalist, publisher, defender of freedom of speech and human rights, and champion of the underdog.

One of his greatest achievements was when he defended all Canadians’ right to free speech. He took his being denied access to the Canadian Press Gallery, to the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner and won this precedent-setting case.

Remembered for his sense of humour, great stories, and a gift of encouragement.  He was an avid follower of space flight, and renewable energies, driving electric vehicles in their early days.

A virtual service will be held on July 24th with family and invited guests.
