Shelley Oliver Greig

February 6, 1967 — May 22, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shelley Mae Oliver Greig, at the age of 53.
Shelley passed away peacefully at home on May 22nd, 2020 with her family by her side.  After a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer, which she took on with determination and a smile, Shelley is now with her Lord and saviour.
Shelley is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, and best friend, David, and her loving children, Matthew (Erin), Owen and Moyra.  Also left with loving memories are her parents Joyce Oliver and Michael Patterson, sisters Tracey (Shaun) O’Hagen and Kelly Oliver, parents-in-law Bill and Janice Greig, brother-in-law Chad (Heather) Greig, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Shelley attended the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained a B.A. and an M.B.A.  After her marriage to David, they moved to British Columbia in 1998 and then later to Ottawa in 2008.
Shelley was a firm believer in Jesus and had a strong desire for others to come to know Him.
Shelley had an amazing passion and heart for children. She was a devoted and incredible mother.  Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her children grow and succeed.  She loved being a “hockey mom”, “soccer mom” and “highland dance mom”.  Shelley was also a loving foster mother to many little ones who entered her home and knew her as “Bibby”, and a volunteer at her church’s nursery.
Shelley had a life long passion of travel and enjoyed sharing in the wonder of seeing her family explore new places and experience adventures around the world. Especially if it involved the warm sun and a sandy beach.
Shelley loved to read, encouraged her children to follow her lead, and could often be found spending time reading her Bible or a good novel.
Shelley had a tremendous sense of humour, which was shared with her husband and children, and her home was always filled with laughter.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
We would like to thank the R.C.M.P. for their constant support, and the amazing employees at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, the Champlain Local Health Integration Network, and Saint Elizabeth Health.
Memorial donations can be made to either the CHEO Foundation or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date once restrictions have been lifted.
