Thomas Vivian Helwig

Affectionate elder brother of David Herbert Helwig (Lake Worth FL), uncle to David and Winsome Wint-Helwig’s two sons: Stephen David Helwig (married to Jana – children Eden and Winston (Marietta GA), and Vivian Andrew Helwig (married to Brittany – children Amelia, Maxwell and Calvin (St. Augustine FL).
A Canadian citizen since 1974, Tom was born in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica and obtained his Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate in 1958 while a student at Jamaica College. He obtained a B.A. (Honours – Law) in 1964 while a resident at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge; a M.B.A. (Public Administration and International Marketing) in 1967 from George Washington University; and a M.B.A. from Fitzwilliam College in 1968. He retired in 1995 from the Federal Government of Canada after 25 years service, having worked as a legal translator and supervisor (French to English), Secretary of State. Post-retirement he continued to work part-time as a translator – for some years at the Centre for Legal Translation, University of Ottawa.
