Unal Bargu

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce Unal quietly slipped away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 in his home in Toronto. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Halime, whom he lovingly referred to as his “best friend and sister.” Unal also leaves behind his little brother Sinan whom he was very proud to watch grow as a teenager, and his niece Selin whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents and older brother.

He was a cherished and much-loved friend to many in Toronto. Unal was embraced by the extensive LGBTQ family and was an admired businessman, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Born in Istanbul, Unal spent most of his adult life travelling around the world (visited 49 countries) and settled in Canada where he proudly called home. He also enjoyed spending time in the company of others and lived his life free like a bird.

There will be a private memorial funeral in Toronto on Saturday January 9, 2021. Celebration of life will occur virtually on Saturday January 16, 2021 from 1 to 2 PM. Please click here to join the Celebration of Life to honour beloved Unal.
