Waltraud Tyll

February 21, 1926 — August 13, 2022

Born: February 1, 1926; died: August 13, 2022.

Predeceased by her husband, Eric (2016), and her baby daughter, Angelika (1951). Dear mother of Wolfgang (Nora), Ruediger, and Norbert, and grandmother of Brittney and Carly.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Waltraud (Wally) spent her childhood and youth growing up on her family’s farm. As a young woman, she moved to Germany where, following World War II, she met and married her husband Eric, a war veteran. Together they had four children, of whom three survived. In 1954, Wally and the children followed Eric to Canada, where the family settled in North York, Ontario. Raising three active young boys, combined with employment over many years at Loblaws as a cashier, kept Wally busy and content. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips, with Eric and even on her own, to many European locales. Wally and her family also relished their time at their cottage on Burnt River in Fenelon Falls. Gardening was Wally’s passion and she made sure that home and cottage were always festooned with plants and flowers.

In retirement, the couple moved to Newmarket, Ontario and it is there that Wally finally closed her eyes to rest for the last time, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Many thanks to the staff at Southlake Residential Care Village, who provided dedicated care to both Wally and Eric in their final years.

A private family burial will take place on August 20, 2022.
